Quick Guide: Picking the Right Paper for Your Event

Choosing the right paper stock makes a real difference in how your flyers are received. For indoor distribution — leaving stacks at a reception desk, inserting into welcome bags, or handing out at a registration table — 100lb gloss text weight is ideal. It is lightweight, professional, and cost-effective. For outdoor use or heavy handling — door-to-door distribution, car windshields, or posting on community boards — step up to 14pt card stock. It holds up much better against moisture, bending, and repeated handling. Adding UV coating gives an extra layer of protection and a polished shine. For mailers that need to survive the postal system, 14pt card stock is the minimum. Postcards go through sorting machines and delivery vehicles, so a stiff stock ensures your flyer arrives in good shape.

How Many Flyers Do You Need?

Here is a practical guide based on common use cases. For a neighborhood event with 200 expected guests, order 300 flyers — extras for advance distribution, door-to-door drops, and at-the-event handouts. For a business grand opening with local foot traffic, order 1,000 to 2,500 for distribution across a multi-block radius. For regular promotional flyers — weekly specials, seasonal menus, recurring events — order a larger quantity to bring the per-flyer cost down. A restaurant ordering 5,000 flyers for a quarterly promotion pays significantly less per piece than ordering 500 each month.
